For the second edition of its Graduation Prize, Rotary Club Dalmine Centenario "Friedel Elzi" attributed the 2022 prize to the Master Student Silvia Olivari who graduated in 2022 with the grade of 110/110.
The award is for her thesis "Historical Palaces for the Creation of New Inclusive Itineraries in the European Union: the Case of Bergamo”, supervisor Prof. Federica Burini and co-supervisor Prof. Cinzia Giacinta Spinzi.
The thesis is developed around historic palaces and villas in the upper part of Bergamo, with a specific focus on Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), Porta Dipinta Street, and Liberty villas, as a symbol of the link between heritage and production history of Bergamo. Its aim is analysing the existing situation of tourism in Bergamo, together with its potentialities, in the perspective of accessibility. The research is particularly stimulating as it directly involves stakeholders and has practical implications with the creation of two itineraries, through the Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS). Urban tourism in Bergamo is going towards inclusiveness and sustainability, the two pillars recognised by Goal 11 of 2030 Agenda. Itineraries represent a fundamental step in those directions: indeed, tourism becomes experiential, or better defined as the pleasure in discovering a territory, its history, and heritage. This implies dwelling on sites, seen as holders of both tangible and intangible values.
For the second edition of its Graduation Prize, Rotary Club Dalmine Centenario "Friedel Elzi" attributed the 2022 honorable mention to the Master Student Martina Caccia.
The award is for her thesis "Nobody Left Behind or Forgotten: The Role of Accessible Tourism and Inclusivity in Museums for Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities”, supervisor Prof. Gemma Elizabeth Tully and co-supervisor Prof. Federica Burini.
In occasion of the annual award in memory of the alpinist Fabio Favaretto, CAI Mestre attributed the 2022 prize to the Master Student Martina Delvecchio, who graduated in 2022. The thesis was awarded as it provides an example of synergy among public and private stakeholders (a Municipality, a firm and the University of Bergamo), who cooperated for a tourism plan with the aim of creating a new system of goods and services for both tourists and locals. The goal will be achieved through a customized project, that was planned with the involvement of the local community, custodian of the precious local knowledge.
The award is for her thesis “The centrality of the physical territory and the local dimension in tourism planning: the case study of Saviore dell’Adamello through the spatial analysis, the Adamello Gate - Spirit of the Mountain project and the gastronomic tradition”, supervisor Prof. Federica Burini and co-supervisor Dott. Andrea Pozzi.
As the thesis relates to a Municipality in Camonica Valley, it was also rewarded by the Comunità Montana di Valle Camonica as a form of promotion of the Valley territory.
