"It is not true that young people are the future: young people are the present. They are our resource today, to build the future." These were the words of Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè to relaunch, from Bergamo, the government's strategic goal of focusing on the development of the tourism sector as one of the key engines for the country's economic growth.
The minister spoke on the morning of May 15 at the conference Le direttrici strategiche del turismo (The Strategic Directions of Tourism), sponsored by the University of Bergamo on the occasion of Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023, together with the Lombardy Region's Councillor for Tourism, Territorial Marketing and Fashion, Barbara Mazzali. The meeting was also attended by the Mayor of Bergamo, Giorgio Gori, and many representatives of the territory.
The meeting was an opportunity to open a reflection on the role of tourism in the strategic development of the country through the enhancement of its territories.
During the event, a focus was turned to the role of the University, which - as mentioned by Prof. Elisabetta Bani (pro-rector) and Prof. Federica Burini (president of PMTS) - has significantly invested in tourism-related educational programs, including the master's degree course in Planning Management of Tourism Systems.
